Long-Term Rentals on the Costa Blanca
Monthly rates from 60+ nights — ideal for winter sun seekers, remote workers, retirees, and anyone ready for an extended Mediterranean escape.
Why Choose a Long Stay on the Costa Blanca?
The Costa Blanca is one of Europe’s most compelling destinations for extended stays. With over 300 days of sunshine per year, average winter temperatures of 15-20°C, and a cost of living significantly lower than the UK, Scandinavia or Central Europe, it offers a quality of life that is hard to match. Whether you are escaping the northern European winter, working remotely from a sunny terrace, or simply want more than a two-week holiday can offer, a long-term rental here gives you the time to truly settle in.
The region’s infrastructure is excellent. Healthcare is world-class — Spain consistently ranks among the top countries globally for healthcare quality. Alicante-Elche Airport connects to dozens of European cities year-round with low-cost carriers, making it easy for visitors to come and go or for you to pop home if needed. Supermarkets stock a mix of Spanish and international products, and the expat communities in many Costa Blanca towns mean you will find English-speaking professionals from dentists to accountants.
A long stay also lets you experience Spain beyond the tourist surface. You will shop at local markets, develop a favourite cafe, learn which bakery has the best bread, and perhaps pick up some Spanish along the way. The rhythm of Spanish life — late lunches, evening paseos, weekend trips to mountain villages — becomes part of your daily routine rather than something you glimpse on a short holiday.
How Our Long-Stay Rentals Work
Best Areas for Long-Term Stays
Torreviejais the most popular choice for long-term guests. It is a full-service city with everything you need for daily life — large supermarkets, a public hospital, dozens of restaurants, cinemas, a municipal swimming pool, and a vibrant market scene. The international community is large and well-established, with social clubs, language exchange groups, and plenty of opportunities to meet people. It is also one of the most affordable areas on the coast.
Javea (Xabia) attracts a more upmarket long-stay crowd. Nestled between the Montgo mountain and the sea, it offers a blend of sophistication and natural beauty. The Arenal beach area has excellent restaurants and a polished promenade, while the old town retains authentic Spanish charm. Javea is particularly popular with British, German and Dutch long-stayers who value quality over nightlife.
Deniasits at the northern tip of the Costa Blanca and is known as the gastronomic capital of the region. Quique Dacosta’s three-Michelin-star restaurant is here, and the town punches well above its weight for food. The ferry to Ibiza and the Balearics departs from Denia’s harbour, and the Montgo Natural Park provides exceptional hiking right on the doorstep. For long-stayers who love good food and nature, Denia is hard to beat.
Practical Information
Residency is not required for stays under 90 days. EU and EEA citizens can stay indefinitely, though registering on the padron (municipal register) is recommended for stays over three months. Non-EU citizens, including British nationals, are limited to 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa. Those wishing to stay longer should explore the non-lucrative visa, digital nomad visa, or other residency options.
Healthcare accessis straightforward. EU citizens with a valid EHIC or GHIC card can access Spanish public healthcare. Many long-stayers also take out private health insurance, which is remarkably affordable in Spain — comprehensive cover typically costs €50-100 per month depending on age. Private hospitals and clinics in Torrevieja, Alicante, and along the coast offer excellent English-speaking care.
Banking and finances are easy to manage. Most UK and European bank cards work in Spanish ATMs and shops. If you plan to stay regularly, opening a Spanish bank account is simple and gives you access to local direct debits and transfers. Currency exchange is not an issue within the Eurozone, and for British visitors the exchange rate is typically more favourable when withdrawing from a no-fee travel card.
