Private pools belong exclusively to your villa and typically measure 4 by 3 metres up to 10 by 5 metres. Communal pools are shared among apartment complex residents, are generally larger at 15 to 25 metres, and include sun lounger areas, showers, and sometimes a poolside bar.

Some villas offer heated pools, either solar-powered or electric, which extend the swimming season from March through November. Several newer apartment complexes on the Costa del Sol also feature heated communal pools. Check our listing filters to find heated-pool properties specifically.

Many villa pools have removable child-safety fencing and pool alarms available on request. Apartment complexes in Orihuela Costa and Mijas Costa frequently include a separate shallow children's pool of 40 to 60 centimetres depth. We always recommend supervising children around water.

Communal pools are maintained by the community management company with daily cleaning and chemical treatment. For private villa pools, our team arranges twice-weekly cleaning and pH balancing included in the rental price. Any issues are resolved within 24 hours by our local maintenance partners.

Unheated outdoor pools are comfortable from mid-May through mid-October, with water temperatures of 22 to 28 degrees Celsius in peak summer. Heated pools can be enjoyed year-round. Even in winter, daytime air temperatures rarely drop below 14 degrees, making poolside sunbathing possible most days.

For communal pools, maintenance is covered by community fees already included in your rent. For private villa pools, regular maintenance costs between 80 and 150 euros per month depending on pool size and includes chemical treatment, filter cleaning, and water testing. This is included in our managed villa rentals.

Private villa pools can be used any time, and most are equipped with underwater LED lighting for evening swims. Communal pools in apartment complexes typically close between 22:00 and 08:00 per community rules. Night swimming rules are noted in each property's house guide.

Yes. All our pool properties include sun loungers, a parasol or shaded area, and an outdoor dining table with chairs. Villa terraces typically seat 6 to 12 guests around the pool. Many also feature an outdoor shower, BBQ area, and cushioned lounge seating for evening relaxation.
